Do not let your dog walk you, You walk your dog. Even stubburn dogs are trainable.

WHAT WAS YOUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE OF OUR FACILITY AND OUR INTERACTIONS WITH YOU AND YOUR CANINE COMPANION?

I have been to two other trainers, different breed dogs. Neither have given the kind of time David has. You don’t just drop your dog off, upon dropping your dog off David spends about an hour getting to know you and his client. It is a very clean and welcoming environment. I was surprised that Kyubbi went right to David upon “sniffing him out.” Akitas are known to be a ONE person dog. David knows how to get into a dogs head. David and Eva have the love and patience for any dog. Kyubbi was very happy dog when we went to pick her up.
After 2 weeks we picked Kyubbi up. The third week when David called to check on Kyubbi (QB) we said we were still concerned about an issue ( just a misunderstanding) David had us bring her back and showed us some methods to work with her. As we think she was abused before we got her (8mos) we know this will take some time and Dave is willing to give us his time and work with us and Kyubbi.
I would recommend this place a 100 times over. I just want to say IF you are not willing to do your part don’t waste Daves and Evas’ time!

I was able to communicate with my girl and her actually listen to me.

FREYA and I worked with David for 2 years to be come a good citizen and a trained support dog. She is a 2.5 year old pitbull mix. She loved her training and time at shilohs . Uncle David is one of her favorite humans. She is well behaved and does her job well. She Flys, goes to concerts and movies and day to day shopping . She is still a bit triggered by dogs. Only cause she loves other dogs and wants to go meet them. But a quick absolutely not you’re working and she’s back on the job. I could not have asked for a better trainer or human to care for my baby.

We aren’t “Spring Chickens “ anymore. That’s the reason why my husband and I had reservations getting another German Shepherd after saying goodbye to our 13 year old Molly. The decision was made for us when we saw this 8week Shepherd. She was gorgeous but totally out of control. Our vet recommended Dave. We are so pleased with his expertise. Remarkable positive changes after 4 weeks of training under his guidance. As part of his training regiment, my husband and I are now learning the correct way to communicate with our baby and are experiencing fantastic results! We are extremely pleased and highly recommend Shiloh K9 Obedience Training.

After trying out two other trainers with little progress we went online in search of a better option. We live in northern Michigan. It was an hour and a half drive for us but we were desperate to get Lizzie better training before the summer season and frequent guests. We started out with a few weekly one hour session. After realizing how well that was working for Lizzie, the decision was made by us to do a two week board and train for her. We were nervous about doing that since she was a rescue and so insecure. That decision was a game changer! She thrived! We brought home a happier and more confident dog two weeks later. We learned more effective ways to communicate with our rescue girl. She was very insecure and poorly socialized at a year old. Calm, gentle and firm communication was the key. She also responds better to the hand and verbal cues taught to us by David and Eva better than the ones we were using.

WHAT WAS YOUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE OF OUR FACILITY AND OUR INTERACTIONS WITH YOU AND YOUR CANINE COMPANION?

David’s training philosophy is one of firm yet kind training. Lots of praise and nothing punitive, e.g. shock or prong collars. Also using the crate as a safe haven not as a time out tool. Our sweet girl is so happy and confident after just working with David and his trainer helper Eva for a few months. We’ve also recently used the boarding for a weekend away. We haven’t been able to find a reliable dog and competent sitter in our area. We highly recommend to anyone who is frustrated with the progress or behaviors of their canine companion. Money well spent.

I thought I knew quite a bit about training until I attended a session. I learned there is so much more to it. The most important thing I learned is consistency and the little things matter.

Although there are different facilities and arrangements for sleep and stay than my dog was used to, we trusted the process. There is NO indication that our boy was mistreated or not well taken care of in any way. He loved “Uncle Dave” and the training was beneficial. Now it’s up to us to stick with the habits that have been planted. Thank you to K-9 obedience for setting the foundation 😊

I not only learned the correct way to communicate with Cassie in a positive way, but also the how (voice tones)and why one way of communicating with her works better than another. The why is so important. I also learned that consistency and repetition is so important. When I couldn’t get it right, David was so encouraging and patient. Together we would work it out.
In the past 2 years Cassie went through 2 two week board and trains and each time Cassie learned so much. I am an older person and the results made handling her so much easier. Several private lessons to follow up brought us to the Obedience and Socialization Award and Therapy Dog training. Cassie and I are now visiting with hospice patients. We are excited to do this work and they look forward to seeing us.

Our overall experience is great! Shiloh is our “go to” place for boarding as well as training and I hope to never have to take her anywhere else. Cassie absolutely loves Uncle David and Eva and feels right at home. I leave her with confidence and can focus on family when I leave her. I can’t imagine leaving her anywhere else! David and Eva are professional, dedicated, compassionate, and encouraging. They go the extra mile. If you are leaving your baby for boarding or board and train, they will keep you updated with pictures and videos. And did I say? . . . They are very encouraging! Cassie loves Uncle David and Eva and considers them a part of her family.
