Loki is 10 months old and at stage where he is trying to be defiant and in charge. With David’s training, I have learned patience, and verbal commands as well as hand gestures. I have learned new ways to work with my dog, like the tone of voice matters. David’s training works. My dog is a different dog after boarding him there also. He is also now calmer in house, and listening better. I will continue to work with David and use his training methods so my dog can be a friendly, calm and happy boy! Hoping to work to service dog in future!

David and Abbey are wonderful and enjoy what they do, and working with the dogs. They are very gentle and kind with training. They answered all questions and worked one on one, hands on, showing me and teaching me the skills to help my dog. I would highly recommend!

My dog is very hyper-active and before going to Shiloh, she struggled a lot with jumping on guests, taking off in public, and not listening to us. Since going to Shiloh, her ways have improved incredibly. She no longer does those things anymore.

I learned so much that I will use forever starting with the 5 basics commands and going into more advanced commands/techniques. Dave and Abby are great trainers and very patient. I felt my dog was in great hands and is much more focused and obedient. The key is to take what they taught you and continue when your dog gets home. It takes commitment from the dog owner.

Dave, Abbi and his team gave us the tools to work with our dog and established a good foundation to build upon for Bailey. When we first got Bailey he was older and was established as to making his own decisions and self rewarding actions that made him difficult to train. We had never had a breed of his type which was also a challenge not having the proper training as owners prior to coming to Shiloh K-9 Obedience.

Dave, Abbi and his team did an excellent job reconditioning Bailey. Previous to coming to Shiloh K-9 Obedience Bailey had issues with other dogs and people. He was not so reactionary and unfocused when we brought him home. Dave and his team demonstrated the training and we took home plenty of notes for ongoing training. Bailey was more focused on commands . The major difference was that Bailey became a calmer more focused dog who was less stressed about a lot of things.

Sheeba trained with David and his team a year ago for 4 weeks and his techniques were so good – we wanted to bring her back for enhanced training – this time for 1 week. Our focus for Sheeba this time was improving her walking skills with me, in particular when passing other dogs. While she does very good for my husband, the pulling and barking were still a thing with me. David and Abbi worked with Sheeba over the course of the week and then worked with myself. I now have additional techniques to utilize to have and maintain control and have already seen improvement in just a few days! Sheeba is happy and loved while learning and growing with David. Thank you so much!!!

It was extremely exciting to watch David work with and challenge BeBe…the trust between the two was apparent…BeBe, tail wagging, pleased and ‘proud’ when he appropriately responded to what was asked of him. Graduating from word commands to simply hand gestures was fascinating. I’ve learned so much about ‘how dogs’ think and the positive benefits of proper training. It was a pleasure to spend time at Shiloh K9 Training and Obedience.

I have learned to better understand my dog’s body language and communication style. This has enabled me to better communicate with her and build her trust in me. Her general disposition is more calm and she listens for her commands and follows them appropriately. She is training to be a service animal but she has become a better family pet.

I have been extremely satisfied with the facility. It is clean, warm and there are many training props readily available to serve in training. Interactions with my dog have been great! David (and Abbi) have based my dog’s training on my personal individualized needs and catered to her personality making it a pleasant and nurturing experience for all! I also love that our training time is managed well, taking advantage of every teachable moment, even her “down time.” I would highly recommend Shiloh K9 obedience training to family and friends!

David was very patient, and helped us understand the importance of the “Five Basic Commands” during our one on one training sessions. He was great at showing how well Boone responded to repetitive command training. David explained the importance of proper obedience to maintain our dogs safety. Shiloh K-9 facility is very clean and organized. David spent time with us explaining the importance of socialization, nutrition, grooming, play, exercise and answered any questions we would have.
We had Boone board and train with Shiloh K-9 for one month We visited weekly and were amazed at the progress he would make.. He was so focused when he came home, that it made my job much easier. We enjoyed Abbi, as she did a great job demonstrating command and reward.

Comments:
(We learned that…) Dogs love their owners and want to please. They learn quickly with positive reinforcement. We should never scold or lay a hand on our beloved dog.
Our goal is to continue positive reinforcement and make sure our dog is loved, well behaved and safe for our Grandchildren to grow up with, as well as for us to enjoy daily.
I honestly can’t think of any suggestions as I was pleased with my experience.… I already have, my friends dog is enrolled in August!

I could not be happier with how Dave trained me and Karma to work as a team. Karma was rescued at age 3. She had many issues that we attempted to remedy on our own or without consistency. Suffice it to say we were not very successful. Thus, we began to medicate Karma. With Dave’s assistance, compassion, and expert knowledge, Karma is better trained and I am a better handler. And she is now drug free!

Karma & I work daily on the basics. Just an investment of 20-30 minutes pays dividends. Karma is not as anxious and no longer needs to be medicated. She is happy and content. Our next major goal will be working on better social interactions, especially when there are other dogs around. I also intend to keep Karma’s mind better stimulated through play and exercise. We cannot thank you enough, Dave!

Gracie and I worked with David from June 2020 – October 2020 with his one on one puppy classes. Gracie is a high energy dog and the work we did together with David set a great foundation for us. We did a 2 week board and train session with David in March/April 2020. David is incredibly knowledgeable and kind in his training methods. It is so obvious that he cares deeply about the well-being of the dogs in his care. He gave us many tools to engage Gracie and work through some issues we were having. David was kind, patient and encouraging with us in every one of our training sessions.

Service Date: March 13, 2021Our 3 year old German Shephard Sheeba was a rescue of sorts – where she became part of our family at 5 months old. Sheeba was great with our family and enjoyed playing with dogs, however, we found that some tendencies got worse during Covid when she was at home alone with us all the time and not seeing many other people. She became somewhat aggressive around “strangers” and also started developing separation anxiety. We tried working with her but the situation was only getting worse. Finally, we decided after visiting Shiloh K9 to leave her in the trusted hands of David for 1 month of training. This training was a 2 way street as we visited Sheeba 1x / week for training with her. This really was the key – with Sheeba getting the intensive training she needed and then ourselves learning how to work with her in a consistent fashion to help her develop, grow confidence, trust and gain such an excitement for learning! David was just amazing with Sheeba!! Initially during our first meeting Sheeba was anxious and barking a lot at David. Within about 15 minutes – he was able to feed her treats from his hand. I left feeling cautiously optimistic. With each training session – we were all gaining confidence and learning together how to lead Sheeba in the best manner. Her 4 week session finished the middle of February 2021 – thus home now for 1 month. We obviously still need to work with Sheeba – but wow – the progress has been amazing!! We have introduced her to 3 friends / “strangers” and followed the training methods David taught us to introduce her properly to new people. We spent about 10-15 minutes making the introductions and it was well worth the effort! Sheeba has now found 3 new best friends in the process!! Honestly, we couldn’t be happier with the love, attention and training David provided to Sheeba during her visit and we so appreciate his time and effort with us too. As I said in the beginning – this is a 2 way street. Sheeba needed training – and quite frankly – so did we! Thanks David!!!

Training was fantastic. We met with Dave early on before Renley’s training started on 2/25/21. We knew after meeting with Dave that Renley was in the right spot. We have had Renley back at our house for 24hrs and we can already see improvements in her behavior!! We are looking forward to working with Dave in the future in getting Renley trained to be a service dog. We are also looking forward to using Shiloh K9 for future training and boarding this summer. What is your overall view of the Training & Boarding provided for your dog?
Very good I am a retired police officer with no previous K9 training. I am training our dog for search and rescue and he has been showing aggression towards other handlers and dogs. The work done at Shiloh was eye opening and gave us better tools to communicate and work with our dog. They do not use prong collars, shock collars or discipline. They use treats and rewards to instill discipline into the dogs. Our dog Lobo is very handler oriented and wants to work, Shiloh instilled a better understanding of the communication process between handler and dog for both of us.

What is your overall view of the Training & Boarding provided for your dog?
The training and boarding of Rascal was awesome! I don’t normally trust anyone with my fur babies. I left him with no feelings of worry about his welfare at all. Normally I would have been pacing and on the phone every couple of hours. Not the case here. Rascal took to Dave and his assistants right away. Even Rascal was totally comfortable with the boarding and training. I was kept up to date with pictures and texts on his progress through the week. On a weekly basis I received my training. That kept both of us on the same page. I liked that I was talked through the training, was demonstrated the training, then I performed the training myself. My guy was there for a total of 4 weeks. I never once worried about him. The training of both Racsal and my self was complete. Now approximately 2 weeks at home, Rascal and I are on the same page and continuing with our daily training schedule. He is doing an amazing job. I’m so happy and grateful that I chose Shiloh K9 Obedience for our next step in training. I have recommended them to everyone I know, with out hesitation! They are truly amazing!

My family couldn’t be happier with the job that David did when it comes to the training and boarding of Tank. We were nervous at first when we dropped him off because Tank has never slept in a cage or away from our family. But David and his crew took care of Tank like he was one of their own.

Our family has learned to be more positive with our tone of voice and to give Tank more praise. We also see such a difference in Tank’s attitude and willingness to listen since we have put him in a cage when we go to sleep instead of letting him sleep in our bed. The compliments I get about how well behaved a dog Bella is are simply wonderful. Now, other people appreciate her as much as I do!! I work with troubled adolescent boys, with significant trauma histories and behavioral issues, who are away from all they know: friends and family but in our care. Bella and her ability to be with me, as she is now a well behaved responsive companion, has had a Remarkable calming effect on the boys who come to my office to pet her and have a bit of downtime. Best thing ever for them and me.
Thank you David, I really appreciate you, your candor and your commitment to excellence. I’m feeling very lucky we found you. I’ll be honest, as a social worker, I initially thought the cost to be prohibitive for me. So I was only going to do two weeks of training. However, Seeing Bella blossom and what I gained personally in how I understand my relationship with her, is worth far more money then I’ll ever have. Cost is way affordable, when you consider what you walk away with and David is worth 1000x that with his skills. I am a Well satisfied customer here.

I am very happy with the overall Training and Boarding that was provided. Dave and the workers made me feel at home and made me feel good about leaving Bandit in their hands for the 4 weeks he was there.

Comments:
I learned so much during the appointments I spent with Bandit, Dave and Brandy. I learned that Bandit can be quite manipulative if he doesn’t get his way at times. Dave had showed me and coached me how to handle/ diffuse those situations. I was also taught some games to play with Bandit to help stimulate his brain and make him think more. I still continue to play those games and he sure loves them! & The verbal and non-verbal commands are great to know. I am very very impressed how much he has learned and picked up just in the 4 weeks he was there. I’m even impressed with how much I learned. His anxiety has even calmed down. Bandit is much more well-behaved relaxed dog!
Future training goals and desires would be having him become a Search and Rescue Dog.

I would definitely recommend Shiloh K9 Obedience!

What is your overall view of the Training & Boarding provided for your dog?
We loved the experience we had training and boarding with Dave and Shiloh K9 Obedience. Not only was the training successful and lasting, but Dave was sure to respond timely to texts and calls about how Nash was doing, sending pictures and putting our minds at ease. We completed the 4 week train & board because our 9 month Nash was overly reactive, stubborn, and hard to communicate with so as to keep his control & concentration. Each week we visited, Nash became more and more focused and wanting to listen and behave. Each week we better understood Nash’s motivations for his behavior and how to best work with him to keep his focus and improve on his behavior. Friends and family have commented on how much more calm Nash is, and we see his improvements every day in his listening, focus, and eagerness to please.

What is your overall view of the Training & Boarding provided for your dog?
David and his staff instill their competence and compassion with your first meeting. I had no qualms in leaving my 1 1/2 year old Bernese Mountain Dog, Gunner, in their capable hands for a month of training. When Gunner arrived he was timid and although he wanted to do the right things for me, he was unsure what the right things were. David sent me a picture on the very first night Gunner spent at Shiloh that summed up Gunner in one look. Big chicken!
I will admit, although I breed Bernese Mountain Dogs, I had a lot to learn about dog psychology. David’s methods go straight to the how and why dogs do what they do.
Our animals are our family, but they are not people and they really do not appreciate us if we treat them as such. That said, Gunner learned faster than I did.
David and his staff were very patient with me and the mistakes I made. They worked with me until I got the commands correct and understood why I needed to work Gunner a certain way.
In one month Gunner became a confident dog who was able to complete his AKC Good Citizen. He holds his head up high and has no problems with other animals or new people. He handles new situations with ease.

Gunner is going to be my right hand from now on as a service mobility dog. I also would like to have him become a therapy dog in the future. A big thank you to all those at Shiloh K9 Obedience! I look forward to working with them training my Bernese puppies in the future! I most enthusiastically recommend this training facility to anyone with a dog or puppy they love, or need for service.
