At SHILOH K9 OBEDIENCE TRAINING & BOARDING CENTER, LLC... THE CRITICAL TIME TO TRAIN YOU & YOUR PUPPY is NOW – when your puppy is 8 Weeks Old until it reaches its 8 Month Old birthday!
I have had all kinds of dogs as my own throughout the last 50 years. Sometimes I had a rescue dog as young as one year old. Other times I have had older dogs that were two or three years old when I first brought them into my home. But whenever I brought a PUPPY into my home it was a whole different world. Puppies are always cute, cuddly little fur-balls when we first arrive home with them. Then, within 24 hours they seem to turn into little monsters. What are we to do with a yelping, biting, jumping, potty-dumping machine that seems to be beyond our control?
"The key to owning and training a PUPPY is NOT
our knowing WHAT KIND OF A DOG
we should have selected for ourselves.
The key IS knowing HOW TO SELECT THE BEST
TRAINING METHODS for ourselves and our puppy!"
Puppies are not bad little creatures that need a heavy hand of CORRECTION to put them into place. Puppies are little curious creatures that need a wise hand to win them over through ENGAGEMENT TRAINING, which directs a puppy into the right actions, allowing the puppy to be a puppy, yet giving us as their HANDLER, the necessary CONTROL over them. This makes for a peaceable existence for all concerned! MARKER TRAINING is a discipline that we as the puppy’s HANDLER must learn as an art! We must be the leader of our K9 friend, so that our dog learns the boundaries and behaviors that we want it to recognize and accept from us as its Master.
I can mentor you as a “New Puppy Owner & Handler” to be able to train your puppy with the methods that will make a strong bond between you and your dog for a lifetime. You will learn how to use your voice and body language, dog training toys, along with food rewards, that will give you the CONTROL over your puppy. You will learn how to avoid having to CORRECT your puppy by yelling at it, or by jerking it around on a leash, or swatting at it with your hand, or the old newspaper roll. ENGAGEMENT TRAINING and MARKER TRAINING are FUN WAYS of raising your puppy to be an obedient, well behaved dog! Come and learn these TIME PROVEN METHODS with me, at SHILOH K9 OBEDIENCE TRAINING & BOARDING CENTER, LLC.

Meet "BUDDY!"
He is a 18 week old Golden Retriever puppy.
His owner, Denise, is from E. Tawas, Michigan.
She has trained her German Shepherd, BELLA, with us too.
(In this picture, Buddy is showing what we call
"CHIN RESIGNATION!")
His owner had to correct Buddy a few times to obey the "DOWN & STAY" command. Buddy finally "RESIGNED" himself to obey!
Denise commands Buddy to "SIT & STAY!"
"BUDDY, Heel!"
"YES!!!"

Jax, a Wheaten Terrier puppy,
is responding to his owner,
Justin, who says to JAX, "Watch Me!"
Now both of Jax's owners, Samantha & Justin, are working with their puppy to learn to trust them, and to allow them to gently touch him with a stick! Later, they will be teaching Jax a "BACK-UP" command, by using the stick to prompt Jax to walk backwards.

ROXY is learning to play with dog toys on her human handler's terms. Puppies need to know that the toys they play with belong to their owner and they are allowed to play with them on their master's terms. This keeps the dog from being "aggressive possessive" of things. When the puppy is told to "give it," then they must let the toy (or some other thing), go to the handler's control. Roxy is learning this lesson well!
April - 2012
Eye contact! The puppy keeping watch, and being focused in on her handler, is key to having the dog look to its handler for the next behavior that is commanded of her. Roxy is developing this strong focus on her handler!!!
Teaching a puppy to be comfortable, cautious, and confident in and around water, is very inmportant for a dog's safety and survival in areas of water. Roxy is taking her first fun steps into something bigger than a bathtub, and she's loving it!
All of the stages of a dog’s life are to be fun for us as their owner and handler. And our dog should have fun too from the day it comes to live with us as a puppy, until the day we have to say good-bye to our old friend! ENGAGEMENT TRAINING and MARKER TRAINING are FUN WAYS to ALWAYS play with and work with your dog. GET STARTED TODAY!!!
SHILOH & TROOPER are

We are training TROOPER
to become a CANINE GOOD CITIZEN,
and then we will work with him in advanced
obedience and socialization to become
a CERTIFIED THERAPY DOG!
Trainers who cannot train their own dog are kind of like plumbers who cannot fix their own pipes - both of them will end up with everything going down the drain!

SO-CALLED
"PUPPY CLASSES"
are way overrated!!!
Most dog trainers or businesses offering this approach to training a puppy is sold under the banner of "YOUR PUPPY NEEDS TO BE SOCIALIZED WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND OTHER DOGS!"
The premise is true, the approach is most always unhelpful at best, and at its worst, this setting will too often be harmful to both your puppy's physical and psychological well-being!
* * *
Picture the average
PUPPY CLASS
setting with me...
There are no less than 6 puppies of every size, different ages (8 weeks to 20 weeks old), there may be as many as 12 puppies, some laid back and others shy, some wild and aggressive, and then there are the dog owners, most all of whom have no working knowledge to start with to even know what is going on in the class, or why they are going through the motions with their pup that makes no sense to them or to their pup!
Then a fight breaks out between two or three puppies -
The dog trainer tells the owners of the fighting puppies to take their dogs on the outside of the training area and to keep them separated from the other puppies.
[SO MUCH FOR THE SOCIALIZATION THING...]
Puppies jumping on all the humans and on one another, puppies barking and whining and peeing and pooping in the training area and on you...
The dog training instructor upset and yelling at you to jerk on your puppy's leash and scold it for misbehaving, the other puppy owners upset with one another and with you, the class-time cut short for some, if not for all of you, due to frustration and failure on all levels!
"CLASS IS OVER,
SEE YOU ALL AGAIN
NEXT WEEK!"
What a deal!!!
We only had to pay $90. for a 6 week, one hour class, and our pup is sort of socailized, maybe it got bit on once, by another aggresive pup, but our pup learned how to "sit" for two seconds, well, at least for one second...]
* * *
THERE IS A BETTER WAY FOR BOTH YOU AND YOUR PUPPY TO LEARN, A BETTER ENVIRONMENT, A BETTER TRAINING AND SOCIALIZATION METHOD, AND A BETTER POSITIVE RESULT FOR THE PRICE YOU ARE ASKED TO PAY TO HAVE YOUR PUPPY UNDERSTAND, ALONG WITH YOU, THE MEANING OF "COME, SIT, DOWN, STAY AND HEEL!"

This little guy is about 4 months old and is owned by Larry & Carol who live in Oscoda, MI.
This cute pup is called "TROOPER!"
He is learning to trust and befriend dogs that are safe and friendly to be around.
Trooper is checking out our resident dog, SHILOH!
When Shiloh was let out of his crate, he laid down so that Trooper saw him as a friendly K9.
Trooper then laid down by Shiloh.
Shiloh started to play with a ball and Trooper wanted in on the fun!

MEET "PUFF!"
Esther is the owner of "PUFF!"
This little 16 week old, Goldendoodle pup, is TRAINING AND BOARDING with us for 4 weeks.
Esther is a nurse at a hospital in the Troy, Michigan area.
Her goal for PUFF is to work with her as a THERAPY DOG!
PUFF will be great at this wonderful work of making other people's lives happy with her 'PERSONALITY-PLUS" disposition!
Esther commands Puff to "DOWN & STAY!"
"THIS WAY GIRL - GOOD GIRL!"
Esther works to engage Puff to follow her wherever she goes!
[June - 2016]
Puff and her owner, Esther, are from Oak Park, MI.
Puff came to us as a 15 month old Goldendoodle puppy.
She has trained with us for 4 weeks to learn basic obedience commands and the proper behaviors around people and other dogs!
At this training session, Puff learns to focus on Esther and to "STAY WITH HER" when Esther walks in one direction and then another.
Every dog must learn to LOVE TO LOOK at their owner/handler.
Puff gives Esther her full attention!!!
TRUSTING your K9 friend to COME, SIT AND STAY, and the many other commands to be obeyed, does not happen without training your dog to TRUST you as its owner/handler!
ESTHER ENCOURAGES AND EMBOLDENS PUFF to walk the plank!
PUFF successfully passes over the ramp and is HIGHLY PRAISED by ESTHER for doing so -
"GOOOOOOOOD GIRRRRRRL!!!"
Happy with Puff's progress, Esther goes home with her to work further on Puff's obedience in new places and different distractions.
PUFF IS WELL ON HER WAY TO BECOMING A CERTIFIED THERAPY DOG!
Good Work ESTHER & PUFF!
Esther has plans to work with us further, in the near future, to develop Puff's skills in doing work as a THERAPY K9!

"TROOPER SHILOH BOY!!!"
Trooper is 7 weeks old in this picture. He is from the second litter between my GSD "SHILOH," and "MARLEY," the female GSD owned by the breeder, Wendy, from TTS GERMAN SHEPHERDS!
The Very First Thing You Need To Do When Getting Your New Puppy, is to go to your Veterinary and get your puppy's health checked.
TROOPER IS IN EXCELLENT HEALTH!
He has already learned that it is safe and fun to see the VET!
NO SOFT FUZZY TOYS!!!
You are giving your puppy a license to chew on your soft clothing and soft skin when you introduce it to chewing on and tearing apart soft toys!
"RAWHIDE" is NOT GOOD for dogs.
Ask your veterinarian how many dogs they have operated on to remove "RAWHIDE" from a grown dog or puppy's bloated belly!
TROOPER has two hard rubber toys to choose from and an Elk antler!
Most "Dog Trainers" either do not know, or do not care if you know, what to do and what not to do with a puppy or grown dog!
We supply you with information to give your puppy or dog a proper life structure in which to rightly live and function, as a "canine."
This is what sets us apart at
SHILOH K9 OBEDIENCE...LLC
from your "average" dog trainer!

GIVING YOUR PUPPY A HOME OF HIS OWN!
"CRATE TRAINING" is the only way to go to "potty train" your puppy, and to give him his own "private space" to sleep.
NO DOGS IN THE BEDROOM,
NO DOGS ON THE BED!
Unless, you want all kinds of future problems...
Speaking of "PROBLEMS..."
German Shepherd are
"BORN PROBLEM-SOLVERS!"
But, if you do not give your puppy problems to solve, they will CREATE PROBLEMS
for you to solve!
Troopers says:
"WHO ME???"
In your puppy's first 12 weeks of life, he needs to be more "SOCIALIZED" with you as his HUMAN PERSON, as his owner and handler, than with any other people outside of your family.
AND, your puppy is NEVER to be allowed around strange dogs that you do not know. They may carry a disease, they may be dog aggressive, they may have terrible dog manners, and you do not want your PUPPY exposed to such things!

Make your NEW PUPPY ADVENTURE a happy and healthy one!
START OUT RIGHT AND END UP RIGHT with the RIGHT PUPPY TRAINING METHOD that will ENGAGE your pup with you and train your pup to be OBEDIENT in response to your commands!

**********
Rocks are a mountain of fun for a puppy to explore!
Ponds are a fountain of youth for puppy play!
Snow Days are great entertainment for young dog development!
Falling leaves and all the fresh scents make it all fun for a growing pup's playful times!
Water Sports seem to come from all kinds of sources for curious canines who never want to grow up!
SHILOH is going to be 3 yrs. old on July 4th, 2012. He continues to be full of fun and has become my helper at
SHILOH K9 OBEDIENCE Training & Boarding Center, LLC.
Shiloh works with me at socializing the other dogs that come here for training. He is also a role model of a high-drive, strong temperament dog that is still obedient, and a joy to have around people and other dogs!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meet GINGER'S 4 month old son, "KIPPER!"
He is "KIPPER CUTE!"
He is another Goldendoodle
that will be trained to become a "THERAPY DOG"
for us at SHILOH K9 OBEDIENCE...LLC.
* * *
Kipper is also a little too possessive
of other people's property.
"MY KONG!"
"MY FOOTSTOOL!"
We will have to work in our training of Kipper for him to learn his boundaries, and to "BE THE DOG," instead of him thinking of himself as another one of us humans!
