Meet Sandy and "BELLA!"
They live in Prescott, MI.
Bella is a two year old Goldendoodle.
She has not learned to obey basic obedience commands, nor has Bella learned how to respone to corrctions properly.
In our ONE on ONE 1 Hour Sessions, we are training Bella to focus on and to engage with her owner, Sandy!
SANDY is learning dog-handling skills too!
"DOWN/STAY!"
DOWN/STAY, even on a bench!
DOWN/STAY, even on the floor in between two people.
The DOWN & STAY COMMAND is the 'MOST"
control anyone has over every dog!
It is essential to train and condition dogs to DOWN & STAY in all kinds of locations and situations!

MEET "LUNA!"
She is an Australian Shepherd Mix.
Luna is TRAINING with her owner, Dawn.
Dawn commands Luna to "COME!"
"LUNA, DOWN!"
"LUNA, STAY!"
"LUNA, WATCH ME!"
"YES! GOOD GIRL!!!"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Meet BELLA!"
Her owner, Denise, is from East Tawas, MI.
Bella is a 5 year old female German Shepherd.
She has some "separation anxiety" issues that we are working on. Bella is being trained to give her owner a controlled obedience.
(Bella is on the left, Shiloh, our resident GSD, is on the right.)
SHILOH IS MODELING
THE BEHAVIOR THAT
BELLA NEEDS TO LEARN.
A dog needs to be focused on the human handler, and not to be distracted by other people, dogs or things that are present.
Denise is inviting her dog (Bella, on the right) and Shiloh (on the left) to "WATCH!"
SHILOH is focused, but Bella is not looking straight at her owner.
We are having Denise work both with her dog, Bella, and Shiloh, so that Denise gets a feel for what dogs experince with several people around and the many other distractions of sights and sounds and smells!
WORKING at TRAINING TWO or MORE DOGS at a TIME is very CHALLENGING!
It is easy for the human handler to be distracted by one dog and to ignore what is or is not happening with the other dog(s).

CONGRATULATIONS DENISE & BELLA!!!
Bella passed her AKC "Canine Good Citizen" test.

Here Is One Of The Our Most Recent
Client Survey & Testimonial Responses:
Name: Kym Johnson
Dog's Name(s): Molly & Nellie
Breed: Lab/Hound Mix
Service Date: : Tuesday, 21 July 2015
Survey Question #1
What is your overall view of the Training & Boarding provided for your dog?
I've been very happy with the individualized training I received. I originally contacted David to put Molly in the board/train program. That wasn't necessary after the first couple of classes. Molly now responds to my commands instead of looking at me with that \"I'll get back to you later\" look. We still have more work to do but David gave me the tools to address those issues. After today's training session with all the construction activity, doors being left open, and people in and out I couldn't believe the change in Molly. I thought for sure I was going to be getting in a nice long run chasing her. She stayed focused in class and on me; not the activity outside.
Survey Question #2:
Do you feel that you learned helpful instruction about Training & Handling your dog by using our services?
3 = very helpful
Survey Question #3:
Is your dog better Trained in Obedience and improved Behavior since it came to SHILOH K9 Obedience….LLC?
3 = much better
Comments:
I learned (at least with Molly) I needed to make the commands fun for her. I wasn't giving enough rewards (food or verbal) when she did something I asked of her. I still have some fear issues to help Molly overcome. I never realized she acted out in fear. I always thought she was an aggressive bully.
I would like Molly to get her CGC certification. She took the class years ago but didn't pass one section (the test dog went after her prior to class and the evaluator wouldn't get me a new test dog as Molly became afraid of the test dog and went after him during testing). After that I'd like to get her into agility training. She's a high energy dog that needs stimulation to keep her calmer.
I can't think of anything that needs added in David's training of dogs. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I have already recommended Shiloh K9. I run a marketing company. I used my experience in being trained by David in my last newsletter. I made sure that my readers knew where to go if they were at the end of their rope with their dog. I couldn't be happier.

Meet "MAXINE!"
She is a 5 month old female German Shepherd.
Her owners, Floyd & Deb, live near Twining, Michigan.
We started to train "Max" in our 1 on 1 One Hour class.
After assessing some of Maxine's behavioral issues of nipping, jumping and lack of focus on her human handlers, we decided together to enroll Max in a 2 week Training & Boarding session.
We are happy to report that Maxine has begun to settle down and become much more focused on her human handler. She is obeying our basic obedience commands and beginning to be much more gentle.
Max is a very sensitive girl - when she gets a correction for not obeying a command, she gives you that "I'm NOT a bad girl," look!
"DON'T you feel SORRY for me???"
Don't let those sad eyes and downed ears fool you!
Max is expert at playing the pity me card, even when she has just DISOBEYED a COMMAND that she DOES NOT WANT to perform.
Max says:
"I don't get it!"
"Why doesn't my TRAINER fall
for my PITY-PARTY routine?"
"COME, MAX!"
"Good Girl!"
When Maxine knows that she is NOT going to get away with ignoring a COMMAND or a CORRECTION, she does what all dogs do. She licks her lips as a signal that she wants to comply and to win her human handler's favor!
There is also dog language in this picture showing Max's little smile.
She wants to be on the good side of her trainer.
"THAT'S FINE, MAX! Good Girl!"
Over our 2 week TRAINING & BOARDING time with Maxine, she has really become a much more focused, happy, obedient K9.
Max is smart and charming
and still a little devious -
BUT, SHE IS A LOT OF FUN!!!
Maxine goes home with her owners, Floyd & Deb.
"GOOD WORK, EVERYBODY!"

Meet Schatzilein (left) and Gretchen (right).
They are 5 month old sisters. They are a mix between a Jack Russel and a Cocker Spaniel. Their owner, Father Karl, is from Alpena, Michigan. The girls have trained and boarded with us for two weeks.
They came to us with some jealousy aggression issues, and the need to be focused on their human handler rather than on one another.
The good news is that they are now much more gentle and willing to obey basic commands of come, sit, down, stay and heel.
Schatzi and Gretchen had a lack of obeying a recall command to "Come!"
Our resident GSD, Shiloh, kept his shepherding eye on them.
Gretchen got a little cheeky with Shiloh about following his lead, so he had a BIG DOG to little dog chat about the rules at SHILOH K9 Obedience, LLC. Gretchen seems to have understood.
But, then, Schatzi stepped in on behalf of her smaller sister and wanted Shiloh to back off - both girls finally accepted Shiloh's lead.
With marching orders from the BIG GUY, Gretchen & Schatzi willingly went back inside to their boarding quarters.
"GOOD GIRLS!"
GOOD WORK, SHILOH!
Father Karl & Pilar
are taking the girls back
home for the holidays!
They will return after The New Year for more training!
* * *
Gretchen has finally learned the "DOWN & STAY" command!
Before, you can see that she had it a little bit...
"UP-SIDE-DOWN!"
The "WATCH" command/invitation, is perfectly demonstrated by Schatzi!
GOOD GIRL!
Schatzi and her sister, Gretchen were extremely competitive for human attention when they first arrived to Train & Board with us. They have learned to "GET IN LINE," and give their attention to their human handler, rather than demand all of a person's devotion to their every whim.
AREN'T THEY SWEET?
December - 2014
Meet Archer
and his owner
Tammy!
Tammy lives in Oscoda, Michigan.
Archer is a German Short-haired Pointer. He is about 4 months old.
Archer is learning to "HEEL!"
Well, let's just say he is a beginner.
That's better Archer, all paws on deck...
"HEEL!"
Tammy has been working to train her beautiful pup, under our instruction, for the last 5 weeks.
Archer is learning to obey the command to "DOWN & STAY!"
Archer is also doing well at responding to the command to "COME!"
For a young puppy, as with any age dog, it is absolutely necessary to engage the K9 to happily "WATCH" their human handler.
"WATCH ME!"
"YES, Good Boy!"
For a young, little puppy, Archer has a BIG self-image.
He started out trying to dominate Shiloh, our resident, 5 year old, German Shepherd.
After learning his place in the pack, Archer proceeds towards Shiloh with more cautious respect.
(Archer's ears are down and he pauses before moving closer to Shiloh, who has a toy in his mouth.)
Instead of coming straight into Shiloh's space, Archer comes up to him from the side, and stands still. Shiloh does not acknowledge the pup, displaying that the older dog ought to be respected.
Teaching dog on dog behavior that is acceptable, is all part of what we do to train K9s. Learning how to negotiate with one another in their engagements, is for their mutual safety!
March - 2014
Look Who Has Been Training With Us:
"SAILOR" is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. He is 7 years old.
His owners, Brenda & John, are from Au Gres, Michigan.
Sailor has been attending our "1 on 1" Personalized Training Sessions.
Who says that you cannot teach a respectable older dog, NEW TRICKS?
Sailor is learning new obedience commands and is being conditioned to stop his unwanted negative behaviors. What a great dog!
Sailor's success is due to his faithful owners, Brenda and John, who are using our command system, and behavior corrections, to help Sailor be a well behaved, happily obedient dog!
November - 2013
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meet LUCY, (right).
She is a young female German Shepherd, owned by Joe, from East Tawas, Michigan.
Lucy is being trained to help her learn basic obedience commands, and to be conditioned to be accepting of other K9s.
She has some fear aggression towards humans who are strangers to her.
SHILOH (our resident Shepherd), is attached to LUCY to model to her the commands to SIT and STAY, and to DOWN and STAY!
"Good Work, LUCY & SHILOH!"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meet ROSCO, a great example of a German Shorthaired Pointer.
This young male has been learning basic obedience commands for around 6 "1 ON 1" Personalized Training Sessions.
Rosco is already advancing to higher levels of obedience. His human family, (left to right), Mark, Cody, Natalie and Kelly, have all been working at home to reinforce the training with Rosco.
They are absolutely key players to the success of Rosco's quickly developing obedience!
WELL DONE EVERYONE, You Too, ROSCO!
September - 2013
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"HANZ," owned by Ann, from Traverse City, Michigan, is trained by us in our "1 ON 1!" Personalized Obedience Session. HANZ is a beautiful, smart, young, Long-coat, German Shepherd.

Ann, from Traverse City, has her male German Shepherd "HANZ," in our 1 ON 1 training approach. Ann's dog is training with our resident German Shepherd, "SHILOH!" Hanz is learning to work along-side Shiloh to be focused on the dog handler and not on other K9s.
[Hanz on left / Shiloh on right]
Ann has Hanz in an agility class in Traverse City. She says that our training is helping her to have Hanz more focused on her, as she handles him, in the agility work!

K-DEE is a German Shepherd Mix, and she has been working on learning basic obedience.

Meet CODY!
His owners, Darrell & Sharon, live in Rose City, MI.
Cody started out in our ONE on ONE 1 Hour Trainining Sessions, but his owners chose to have Cody TRAIN & BOARD with us for 2 weeks, to quicken his obedeince training and socailization with other dogs and people.
CODY says:
"YOU MEET THE BEST K9 PALS When You TRAIN & BOARD At SHILOH K9...LLC.
Sharon calls Cody to "COME!"
Sharon now has Cody HEELING, "Gently," at her side!

Survey Question #1
What is your overall view of the Training & Boarding provided for your dog?
We left a puppy with biting and barking issues and picked up a gentleman!

Do you feel that you learned helpful instruction about Training & Handling your dog by using our services?
3 = very helpful
Survey Question #3:
Is your dog better Trained in Obedience and improved Behavior since it came to SHILOH K9 Obedience….LLC?

Comments:
A happy gentle voice draws our Cody to us. We were just talking to him before. Now we are interacting! Our long term goal will be to train Cody as a service partner.
We were very impressed with the grounds the cleanliness of the facility and the organization.
We recommend Shiloh for all training needs. It is a great place for your pet to learn and have fun!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ThIs Is BuStEr...
-he is just a little off balance when it comes to focusing on his owners Bill & Marlene, and his trainer, David.
Buster is a Yellow Lab, and he is owned by Bill & Marlene from Lincoln, MI.
BASICALLY BUSTER HAS VERY LITTLE FOCUS -
HE TENDS TO RUN WILD AND FREE,
HE WANTS TO BE PETTED AND PAMPERED, WITHOUT
PAYING ATTENTION TO HIS HUMAN HANDLERS!
THAT IS CHANGING as Buster TRAINS & BOARDS with us.
"BUSTER, DOWN & STAY!"
Until Buster learns to relax and focus on his handler he will not be able to follow any commands.
"BUSTER, WATCH ME!!!"
"What??? What Did You Say???"
"DOWN & STAY!"
"Good Boy, BUSTER!"
NOW OUR BOY IS FOCUSED ON HIS HUMAN HANDLER!
Buster's owner, Bill, commands his dog to HEEL!
Buster's owner, Marlene, commands Buster to "DOWN & STAY" while she walks away to go and talk to her husband.
THIS IS GREAT CONDITIONING THAT MAKES A COMMAND WORK IN MANY DIFFERENT DISTRACTIVE SETTINGS.
"YES! GOOD STAY, BUSTER!"
May - 2015
* * *
"Boone, WATCH ME!"
"MOLLY, Watch Me!"
"Molly, THIS WAY!"
"Remi, SIT!"
"Put The Other End Down!!!"
"SNOWFLAKE, Heel."
"Remi, COME!!!"
"TROOPER,
this means SIT!!!"
May - 2015
Our resident German Shepherd, SHILOH,
is busy at what he does best,
rounding up and herding all the stray little doggies
that need to be brought back to their kennels!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lexie, the 1 year old Golden Lab,
loves her beach ball!
Her owner, Sylvie, lives in Bloomfield Hills, Michgan.
Lexie is spending her second
Summer with us training and boarding.
Lexie swims like an Otter.
WHY,
She even looks like she has the tail
of an Otter!
Lexie has a new K9 friend
to play ball with in the water,
meet "DOJA."
DOJA is a Pitbull/Lab Mix. He is 2 1/2 years old.
His owners, Larrissa & Braden, are from Grayling, Michigan.
DOJA is a very people and dog friendly dog. He is in need of some basic obedience training and he needs to learn how to be more gentle when he meets new people.
DOJA came to us with
the highly specialized skill of
KILLING PESKY FLIES!!!
Good Work, DOJA!
Meet "MAX!"
He is here to put his BEST FOOT FORWARD
as he trains and boards with us at
SHILOH K9 OBEDIENCE...LLC.
Max is owned by Amy & Brian who live in Warren, Michigan.
Max comes to us with some fear aggression issues towards people and other dogs. The 4 weeks that he spends with us will help him overcome those fears. As he learns to trust his owner's leadership, Max will be free of the stress of trying to be in control of people and other dogs.
Properly training and conditioning your dog to meet and greet new people takes the burden off of their back. Dogs love it when their owners take control of them meeting people.
MAX, COME! Let's meet a new friend!
Watch Me! GOOD BOY, MAX!
After Max met Janelle, our daugther-in-law, who lives next door,
then Max could see that it is a good thing to meet new people!
I LOVE YOU, JANELLE!
* * *
Doja spent only 1 week training and boarding with us. He is a great dog. He learns fast and loves to please people!
Doja says:
WHAT???
I'm Done Training Already?
...and I was having so much fun here!
Doja and his human family are all happy to see their well-mannered K9 friend return home with them!
July - 2014
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SADIE,
(German Shepherd on the right),
is training with Shiloh.
Sadie's owner, Jen, has learned our training methods well enough to now command and control two dogs at a time!
"WATCH ME!"
"Yes, Good Girl,
Good Boy!"
"COME!"
"Yes, Good Girl,
Good Boy!"
One of Sadie's behavior issues was her aggression towards other dogs. She was always trying to dominate them.
These pictures should tell you -
"DOGGIE AGGRESSION GONE BYE-BYE!"
Nothing but PEACE & CALM!
When Sadie first came to us she would not let any stranger get close to her. Her fear aggression made her hair raise, her teeth show, and she growled or barked at people she did not know!
These pictures should tell you-
"NO MORE EXTREME FEAR AGGRESSION TOWARDS NEW PEOPLE!"
[Amy and Brian have "MAX" training and boarding with us. They helped us with a "MEET & GREET" training session with Sadie]
You can almost hear Sadie
saying to Amy:
"Meeting new people isn't scarey, it's super fun!"
"...and this guy Brian is a good buddy to get to know, too!"
July - 2014
* * *
Max is doing great at obeying his owner's commands to "COME, SIT, STAY & HEEL!"
Amy says:
"COME!" "Good Boy....."
"YES!!!" "Good Boy, MAX!"
Max has learned to obey both word commands & hand signals!
"MAX" came to us with some strong fear aggression towards other dogs and people.
But NOW, Max is learning to be much more relaxed and very friendly around other dogs and humans.
These pictures should tell you that Max is learning to be everyone's friend!
[Emerick is my son. He helps me in my training times with the dogs, like all of my other family members do.]
"SIT!" "GOOD DOGS!!!"
[...even though Max is sorta' HALF-SITTING!]
Now Emerick has ALL of the dogs "eating out of his hand!"
Obedience Training can be contagious, can't it!!!

* * *
"WAVE HIM OFF!!!!"
Use your open hand, palm facing the dog, and WAVE your hand side to side, and say:
"OFF!!!"
This is what we train people to do with dogs that run at them or jump on them,
AND,
IT WORKS!!!
(See the dog in this picture; he is negotiating with the human request by turning sideways and walking away!)

"WATCH ME!"
"HEEL!"
"DOWN!"
"STAY!"
Good Work! Stephanie and her beautiful, bright German Shepherd puppy are coming to our 1 ON 1 Personal Training sessions. This is only their second visit! Both handler and K9 are serious students and will do well at developing life-long skills together.

Meet A Wonderful Puppy In Training...
"JACK"
The Cavalier
King Charles Spaniel!"
"JACK'S" owners, Bill and Deborah, come to us from Mikado, Michigan.

Personalized Obedience Training – On Location For Owner & K9
[click on the above, to see PDF
"Client Contract"]
Roger is doing great work to train his K9, Rusty, and our resident K9, Boo-Boo.
Both dogs have some "dog aggression" issues that we are overcoming!
Shiloh says:
"Roger looks like he's trying to be The Peace Maker between his Doberman, RUSTY, and David's Bouberman, BOO-BOO; looks more to me like he is The Referee!"
KNOW WHAT I MEAN?
After about 30 minutes into our 1 HOUR, ONE ON ONE training time, Rusty and Boo-Boo take it outdoors. Cooling off together at the pond helped both K9's to find "happy play" to be more rewarding than "dominance or fear aggression!"
GOOD DOGS!!!!
Rusty says:
Our humans thought we were "mean dogs." We sure fooled them didn't we, Boo?
Boo-Boo says:
"YAH, they fall for that old dog trick every time!
LET'S PLAY."
