Meet Our Resident Geman Shepherd Dog, "TROOPER!"
He is mentoring a young dog that needed to learn to show respect to, and play properly around, other dogs.
[Trooper is being commanded by his owner/handler, David, to exercise his dominance to control and communicate to the other dog to be respectful and to not jump on or run into the face of Trooper.]
This picture shows the younger dog coming to the side of Trooper and almost bowing in submission to Trooper's dominant posture, as Trooper towers over the submitting dog.

In Suzanne Clothiers book; Bones Would Rain from the Sky: Deepening Our Relationships with Dogs (p. 55), she writes:
Every dog trainer in the world can relate stories of clients who want a dog and are seeking advice as to what kind of dog they should consider. Questioned, the client reports in all sincerity that they want a dog who would happily stay home alone for eight to ten or more hours a day, never destroy anything, perfectly control his bladder and bowels, be delighted to see them and need little more than a walk around the block before settling down to keep them company. They ask, What kind of dog should I get? The correct answer is A stuffed one.
Clothier goes on to say: All the delight of a dogs companionship but none of the responsibility. But also none of the soulful moments of dynamic authenticity.

At SHILOH K9 OBEDIENCE TRAINING & BOARDING CENTER, LLC we are NOT willing to work with people and their dogs, if the people ONLY want us to try to turn their dog into A ROBOTIC BODY that mechanically comes, sits, downs, and stays!
Our whole approach is to BE PERSONAL with PEOPLE and with their DOG! We want to demonstrate how it is possible to treat all dogs as THE BEAUTIFUL COMPANIONS that they want to be to their HUMAN OWNER.
We communicate with canines PERSONALLY, appealing to their BRAIN to learn commands, but we also communicate with A DOG'S SOUL, to engage each dog as THE UNIQUELY INDIVIDUAL CREATURE that it is, in its own right. We model what it means, on many levels, to be A HUMAN HANDLER who wants A REAL VITAL LIFE RELATIONSHIP with their CANINE COMPANION!

Meet "BARKLEY,"
owned by Bob & Lori.
Barkley is a one year old Labrador training & boarding with us for two weeks.
BARKLEY is learning basic obedience commands and to behave more calmly around people and other canines. 
Meet "FLOKI,"
owned by Jennifer.
Floki is a 1 year old Husky.
He is training & boarding with us for 4 weeks.
Floki is a great dog, but he needs to be trained in basic obedience commands and he needs to learn to respect other dogs and people without jumping on them and mouthing them. 
Meet "GABBY,"
owned by Jim & Anne.
Gabby just fininshed training and boarding with us for 4 weeks.
She learned to be an obedient, focused and socially proper dog around people and other dogs.
Gabby even learned how to play with a human controlling her toy and not Gabby controlling the toy.
Everyone is smiling on GABBY'S go home day!
Meet "JAKE,"
owned by Bill & Mary.
Jake is a year old Goldendoodle.
Jake has been controlling people by jumping on them and knipping on them to intimidate them with his dominant nature.
Working with Jake and his owners to engage with one another with eye contact and respectful contact, is helping Jake to act more calmly.
Meet "MURPHY,"
owned by Felicia & Jordon.
Murphy is a 2 1/2 year old Bernese Mt. Dog.
Murphy is trainig & boarding with us for 3 weeks.
He is learning to be more confident and trusting around people and other dogs.
Murphy is a smart boy!
Our assistant trainer, Ian, is giving Murphy the hand signal to lay down on the floor, but Murphy is also holding out his paw as if to say;
"LET'S SEE WHO LAYS DOWN FIRST!!!"
Meet "STELLA BLUE,"
owned by Ellen.
[Stella is the all black GSD]
Stella is an interesting girl, she has a soft temperament, but she is dominant by nature and a bit stubborn too.
After first working with her to train Stella some basic obedience commands with a fair amount of opposition on her part, Ian brought our resedent GSD, "TROOPER," into the picure to help us bring Stella into a more submissive attitude.
STELLA is getting into TROOPER'S face with an attempt to dominate him!
TROOPER responds with his own dominance exercised over STELLA...
STELLA gets TROOPER'S message and shows herself submissive to his position of expeciting her to bow to him.
[After this encounter, our time of training with Stella was much more productive.]
LESSON LEARNED!!!
Meet "STELLA," the Labradoodle puppy, owned by Krysta.
Stella is training & boarding with us for 4 weeks.
She isonly four months old and is already obeying advance commands.
Krysta is training with Stella [off leash] which shows that Stella is wanting to obey commands without needing to be anchored by a leash.
"COME, Yes, Good Girl, STELLA!!!"
Meet "ZOEY," she is only a 16 week old Labrador puppy.
Zoey is very eager to engage with her owners as she is being trained. Zoey has already learned the basic commands of COME, SIT, DOWN, STAY and HEEL!
She is advancing to seaching out scent items...
AND... she is engaging with her owners to trust them and to take on a challenge such as walking or crawling under mock tunnels... 
YES!!! Good Girl ZOEY.
Zoey has a keen focus, giving her human handlers direct and concentrated eye contact.

Meet "KLAUS!"
His owner, Kane, is training Klaus to obey the command to "HEEL" in this picture.
Klaus is training and boarding with us for 4 weeks.
In this picture you can see our assistant trainer, Ian, engaging Klaus to give him eye contact.
Klaus came to us with the need to learn to trust new people in his life and to be confident aroung people and other dogs.
Whenever Klaus shows us that he is stressed over some situation, we pat him firmly on his shoulder and say to him;
"YOU'RE JUST FINE!"
This technique both calms and emboldens a dog to be assured that it is in the kind and helpful hands of its human handler.
Meet "BEAU" and his owner, Abhi.
Beau is a 14 week old Labradoodle from the "Lauderdoodle" kennels in Ohio.
He is training and boarding with us for 4 weeks.
Like all puppies, Beau must first learn to have eyes on his human handle in order to focus on the verbal and visual commands that we train the dog to understand and to obey!
"WATCH ME!"
"Yes, good boy."
After much patience and persistence, waiting Beau out to obey the command to "SIT," Beau gives that look that says it all...
"THERE, there is your "SIT!!!""
Beau even gave his owne, Abhi, an obedient responce to being commanded to sit on the ramp.
"GOOD BOY, BEAU!"
